Create a Transactional Offer

Prev Next

Overview

Build a promotional offer for a single piece of content — typically a movie, episode, or other item available for one-time purchase or rental (TVOD). The wizard guides you through three steps.

:::tip At a Glance
Who is this for?

Marketing or monetization team members running promotions on individual content items.

When do I use this?

When you want to discount a specific piece of content — e.g. "Rent this movie for $0.99" or provide a batch of redeemable codes for a title.

What will happen?

A transactional offer is created and tied to a specific content item. Depending on the configuration, it generates promotion codes that customers can redeem for discounted access.

Prerequisites

  • You must be signed in with a role that has monetization permissions
  • The content item you want to attach the offer to must already exist in the system

Steps

The wizard has three steps.

Step 1: Select Content

Search for and attach the offer to a specific content item.

Field Description
Content Type The kind of content — Video, Series, Bundle, Audio, etc.
Search Type a title to search. Results appear as you type
Selected The chosen content item, shown with its title
  1. Choose a Content Type from the dropdown
  2. Start typing the content title in the search field
  3. Click a result to select it — the selected item appears below the search field
  4. To change the selection, remove it and search again

:::info
The search queries your content library and returns results matching the title. Only published content of the selected type is shown.

Step 2: Pricing & Codes

Configure the promotional codes for this offer.

Field Description
Prefix A short string prepended to all generated codes (e.g. SUMMER)
# of Codes How many unique codes to generate
Multi-use Whether each code can be redeemed more than once

The system generates codes automatically based on the prefix and count. You can download the full list of generated codes as a file after the offer is saved.

Step 3: Availability

Schedule when the offer is active. See Set Offer Availability for details.

Summary Panel

A live summary appears on the right side showing the selected content title, number of codes, multi-use setting, and schedule — all updating in real time.

Expected Behavior

  • You cannot proceed past Step 1 without selecting a content item.
  • Completed steps show a green checkmark in the progress bar.
  • You can click back to any completed step to make changes.
  • Codes are generated on save, not during the wizard.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • No search results? → Check the content type dropdown. The search is scoped to the selected type. Also confirm the content exists and is published.
  • Can't proceed past content selection? → A content item must be selected before the Next button becomes active.
