Overview
Build a promotional offer for a recurring subscription plan — either a percentage/fixed discount or a free trial period. The wizard guides you through six steps to fully configure the offer before saving.
:::tip At a Glance
Who is this for?
Marketing or monetization team members creating promotional campaigns for subscription plans.
When do I use this?
When you want to offer a discount on a recurring plan (e.g. "50% off for 3 months") or give customers a free trial (e.g. "14 days free").
What will happen?
A fully configured offer is created and available for use once the scheduled start date arrives. The offer can be distributed via promotion codes, coupon links, or campaign tags depending on the redemption type you choose.
:::
Prerequisites
- You must be signed in with a role that has monetization permissions

Steps
The wizard has six steps. You must complete them in order.
Step 1: Basic Details
Before entering the wizard, you'll fill in the top section that appears on every screen:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Offer Name | Yes | A display name for the offer |
| Description | No | A short note explaining the offer |
| Offer Status | Yes | Active or Expired — defaults to Active |
Step 2: Offer Type
Choose the strategy for this offer:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Discount | Reduces the subscription price by a percentage or fixed amount |
| Free Trial / Deferred Billing | Gives customers free access for a period before billing starts |
:::warning
Switching between Discount and Free Trial after you've already configured later steps will reset those values. Choose carefully before proceeding.
:::
Step 3: Define the Benefit
What the customer actually receives depends on the type you chose:
If you chose Discount:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Percentage or Fixed Amount |
| Value | The discount amount (e.g. 25 for 25% or $25 off) |
If you chose Free Trial:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Period Type | The unit of time — Days, Months, Years, or "Until a Date" |
| Multiplier | How many of that unit (e.g. 14 days). Shown for Days, Months, and Years |
| Until | A specific end date. Shown only when Period Type is set to "Until a Date" |
:::info
When "Until a Date" is selected, the Multiplier field is replaced by a date picker. The trial runs from signup until the chosen date regardless of when the customer starts.
:::
Step 4: Redemption
Configure how the offer can be claimed. See Configure Offer Redemption for the full breakdown of all four options.
Step 5: Billing Configuration
Controls how many billing cycles the discount applies. This step only appears for Discount offers.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Re-occurring Billing Periods | Number of billing cycles the discount runs for (e.g. 3 months) |
| Indefinite | Check this to apply the discount for the lifetime of the plan |
Free Trial offers skip this configuration — the trial period itself defines when billing resumes.
Step 6: Availability
Schedule when the offer is active. See Set Offer Availability for details.
Step 7: Marketing
The final step configures tracking and attribution:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Cookie Duration | How many days the attribution cookie stays active |
| Campaign Type | The marketing channel or campaign tag for tracking |
After completing this step, the offer is ready to save.
Summary Panel
As you fill in each step, a live summary appears on the right side of the screen showing your current configuration at a glance. This includes the offer name, strategy type, redemption method, schedule, and all key values — updating in real time as you make changes.
Expected Behavior
- Each step must be completed before moving to the next.
- Completed steps show a green checkmark in the progress bar.
- You can click any completed step to go back and review or change it.
- Switching the offer type (Discount ↔ Free Trial) resets the benefit and billing values to prevent stale configuration.
Flow

If Something Goes Wrong
- Can't proceed to next step? → A required field in the current step may be empty. Check that all fields are filled in.
- Values seem wrong after switching offer type? → The system resets the alternate branch when you switch. Re-enter the values for the new type.
- Summary panel not showing? → It is only visible on wider screens. On smaller screens, it is hidden to save space.
