Introduction
VL TVE 01 is a System Screen module in Template Builder. It powers TV Everywhere (TVE) sign-in — the page where customers connect a cable or satellite TV provider to unlock entitled live games, videos, and other premium content.
On the website, this experience typically lives at /tve. Customers can connect a provider or skip and continue onboarding. Connecting a provider opens the provider picker, then the TV provider’s own authentication screens.
This article explains how to create the TVE page in Template Builder, configure VL TVE 01, publish it, and verify the experience on the web.
Purpose
The purpose of this article is to help you:
- Create a TVE System Screen in Template Builder
- Add and configure the VL TVE 01 module
- Configure promotional images, copy, and brand colors
- Understand what customers see when they connect or skip a TV provider
- Publish and verify the live TVE page
Scope
This article covers:
- Creating a System Screen page for TVE in Template Builder
- Adding VL TVE 01 to the page layout
- Module settings: Images, Providers, Brand, and Localization copy
- How the TVE page appears on the website
- An overview of the TV provider connect flow on web
It does not cover:
- Enabling TVE as a monetization type or configuring TV provider credentials in AppCMS
- VL TVE Activate 01 (TV / device activation at
/tveactivate) - VL Authentication 01 / VL Authentication 02 (account sign-in)
- Creating subscription plans or VL Checkout 01 / VL Subscription 01 payment pages
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- Access to Template Builder for your site
- Access to ViewLift Tools / AppCMS to confirm TVE is enabled for the site
- TV providers configured in AppCMS TVE settings (provider list, logos, and authentication)
- Brand colors and copy ready: landing title, description, Connect and Skip labels, and Choose a Provider copy
Example used in this article
Throughout the steps below we use a TVE page named TVE at path/tve. Replace the sample values with your own.
TVE flow overview (website)
The flowchart below shows the typical customer journey on the website when VL TVE 01 is published at /tve.

Notes
- Customers often arrive from onboarding (after Authentication), a Login TVE tile, a paywall, or account / billing links that send them to
/tve. - The landing page includes Connect TV Provider and Skip in the module itself. The flow wrapper also shows Back.
- The Choose a Provider list on the website comes from AppCMS TVE provider settings, matched to providers available through TV provider authentication. The Providers rows in this module do not replace that site-level list.
- After a successful connect, the customer continues to the next onboarding step (for example View Plans or home) or returns to the content they started from.
Step 1: Open Template Builder
- Log into ViewLift Tools.
- Open AppCMS → Edit Template Builder (or open Template Builder for your site from your usual entry point).
- Confirm you are on the correct site and language (if localization is enabled, use the language selector on the Template Builder home screen before editing page copy).

Template Builder home. From here you create pages and open System Screens.
Step 2: Create the TVE System Screen
The TVE page must be a System Screen so that VL TVE 01 is available in the module picker.
- In Template Builder, go to Pages.
- Select + ADD NEW (or Create a New Page).
- Enter New Page Name:
TVE(or your preferred name). - In New Page Type * Developers Only, select System Screen.
- Optionally set Target Language (If localized Page) if you are creating a language-specific TVE page.
- Select CREATE.
Set the page path
- On Page Settings, set the page path to
/tve(recommended) unless your site already uses a different TVE path. - Confirm the page type is System Screen.
- Save page settings if prompted.

Page Settings. Set the path to /tve so Login TVE links, paywalls, and onboarding resolve correctly.
Tip: Keep
/tveconsistent across environments. Onboarding, plan banners, and paywalls typically send TV provider customers to this path. Device activation uses a different page (/tveactivate) with VL TVE Activate 01.
Step 3: Add VL TVE 01 to the layout
- Open the TVE page.
- Select Edit Layout.
- Select Add a New Module.
- Because the page is a System Screen, the picker shows system modules.
- Search for or select VL TVE 01.
- Insert the module into the page layout.

Edit Layout → Add a New Module. Search for and insert VL TVE 01.

TVE System Screen layout with VL TVE 01 placed on the page.
System Screens typically use a single primary system module. Avoid stacking unrelated content trays on this page.
Step 4: Configure Images
Open the VL TVE 01 module settings. Under Images, add one or more promotional slides for the TVE flow layout.
Each row includes:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Headline for the slide. |
| Sub Title | Supporting headline. |
| Description | Body copy for the slide. |
| Image URL | Image for desktop / default. |
| Image URL (Mobile) | Optional image for mobile. |
| Image URL (Tablet) | Optional image for tablet. |
A single row shows one banner. Multiple rows can appear as a carousel in the flow layout on supported experiences.

Images. Add Title, Sub Title, Description, and image URLs for the TVE promotional panel.
Step 5: Configure Providers
Under Providers, you can add Title and Image URL rows for TV providers.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Provider display name. |
| Image URL | Provider logo. |
On the website, the Choose a Provider picker is populated from AppCMS TVE settings (the providers enabled for the site), not only from these module rows. Configure the live provider list, logos, and authentication in AppCMS, then use this module for landing copy, Skip / Connect labels, and colors.
If a provider is missing on /tve, confirm it is enabled in AppCMS TVE settings and available through TV provider authentication for the customer’s region.

Providers. Optional Title and Image URL rows in the module. The website picker still requires providers to be enabled in AppCMS TVE settings.
Step 6: Configure Brand
Expand Brand to set TVE page colors.
| Setting | Default (example) | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Module Background Color | #FFFFFF |
Background behind the TVE panel. |
| Active CTA Color | #D2393B |
Connect TV Provider button background. |
| MVPD Background Color | #FFFFFF |
Background of each provider tile on Choose a Provider. |
Match these colors to Authentication and View Plans so onboarding feels like one product.
Step 7: Configure Localization
Edit the landing and provider-picker copy. Strings can be localized per language when site localization is enabled.
| Label | What it controls | Default example |
|---|---|---|
| TV Provider Title Text | Landing headline | Are you a cable or satellite customer? |
| TV Provider Description Text | Landing description | Connect your cable or satellite account to unlock live games, exclusive videos and more! |
| TV Provider Button Text | Primary CTA | Connect TV Provider |
| Skip Button Text | Skip on landing and on Choose a Provider | Skip |
| Choose Provider Text | Provider picker heading | Choose a Provider |
| Choose Provider Description Text | Provider picker description | A cable provider TV Package* is required to watch video. *Unavailable through internet-only or phone plans. |
Back in the flow chrome uses the site generic Back label, not a field on this module.
Step 8: Save and publish the TVE page
- Save the module settings.
- Review the page layout once more.
- Publish the TVE System Screen.
Until the page is published, apps and web will not show your latest TVE configuration.
Changes can take several minutes to appear because of caching. To verify sooner, use a private window, another browser, or clear cookies and cache.
Step 9: How it looks on the website
After publish, open your site’s TVE URL, for example:
https://www.example.com/tve
Access checks
| Condition | What happens |
|---|---|
| TVE is not enabled for the site | Customer is sent to the homepage |
| Customer is not signed in | Customer is sent to Authentication (for example /authentication) |
| Customer already has a connected TV provider | Onboarding can skip /tve and continue to the next required step |
Landing
Signed-in customers who still need to connect a provider usually see:
- Back in the flow chrome
- Optional promotional Images from module settings
- TV Provider Title Text and TV Provider Description Text
- Connect TV Provider
- Skip

Website /tve landing with Connect TV Provider and Skip.
Choose a Provider
After Connect TV Provider:
- Heading: Choose Provider Text
- Description: Choose Provider Description Text
- Provider tiles (logos from AppCMS TVE settings), with MVPD Background Color
- Skip
Selecting a tile opens that TV provider’s authentication experience. A loading state can appear while the provider list or authentication loads.
If more than four providers are available, the picker can show additional providers beyond the first set.
After connect or skip
| Action | What the customer sees next |
|---|---|
| Provider authentication succeeds | The TV provider is linked to the account. The customer continues to the next onboarding step or a return URL (for example the content page they started from). |
| Skip | The customer continues without connecting a provider, to the next onboarding step or return URL. |
| Authentication cancelled | The customer remains on Choose a Provider (or returns to landing, depending on the provider session). |
Verification checklist
- TVE page exists as a System Screen
- Page path is
/tve(or the path your onboarding flow expects) - VL TVE 01 is on the layout
- TVE is enabled in AppCMS monetization / TVE settings
- TV providers and logos are configured in AppCMS TVE settings
- Landing title, description, Connect, Skip, and Choose a Provider copy are reviewed
- Brand colors match the site
- Optional Images are configured when used
- Page is published
- Signed-out customers are redirected to Authentication
- Signed-in customers can open Choose a Provider and complete (or skip) connect
- Already-connected customers skip
/tvein onboarding when expected
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| VL TVE 01 is not in the module list | Confirm the page type is System Screen. |
| Customer is sent to homepage immediately | Enable TVE for the site in AppCMS monetization / TVE settings. |
| Customer is sent to Authentication | TVE connect requires a signed-in session. Complete sign-in first. |
| Page path is wrong | Open Page Settings and set path to /tve. |
| Connect TV Provider does nothing | Confirm TVE authentication is configured for the site and the page has finished loading. |
| Provider list is empty | Enable providers in AppCMS TVE settings. Module Providers rows alone are not enough on the website. |
| A specific provider is missing | Confirm it is in AppCMS TVE settings and available through TV provider authentication for that customer. |
| Labels do not change on the site | Save module settings, publish the page, and allow cache to clear. For localization, edit copy in the correct language. |
| Device activation is missing | Use VL TVE Activate 01 on /tveactivate. This module is for connecting a provider at /tve. |
| Skip goes to the wrong page | Review onboarding flow order and whether the customer started from content with a return URL. |
Best Practices
- Use one TVE System Screen at a stable path (
/tve). - Enable TVE in AppCMS before you expect
/tveto load. - Configure providers in AppCMS TVE settings, then test Connect and Skip on web.
- Keep landing copy short — title, one description, Connect, and Skip.
- Localize title, description, and button labels when the site has multiple live languages.
- Test signed-out, signed-in, already-connected, and skip paths before launch.
- Publish after every meaningful change — draft System Screens do not update production.
FAQs
Q. What page type should I use for VL TVE 01?
System Screen. Set the path to /tve.

/tve(or your site’s configured TVE path). - TVE must be enabled in AppCMS. Otherwise
/tvesends customers home. - Customers must be signed in before the connect page loads.

- Device activation is a separate module and path (VL TVE Activate 01 /
/tveactivate). - Create the page, add the module, configure copy and colors, then publish.
