VL Account Info Module

Introduction

VL Account Info is a User Page module in Template Builder. It is the signed-in account profile page: customers can review and update personal details, manage a connected TV provider when applicable, and start account deletion.

This article explains how to create the Account Info page, add and configure VL Account Info, publish it, and verify the experience on the website.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to help you:

  • Create a User Page for Account Info
  • Add and configure the VL Account Info module
  • Set the delete-account destination, colors, and customer-facing labels
  • Understand what signed-in customers see on the website
  • Publish and verify the live Account Info page

Scope

This article covers:

  • Creating a User Page in Template Builder
  • Adding VL Account Info
  • Layout settings: Delete Account Permalink, Text, and Background
  • Content labels: Title, Delete Account Label, and Change Provider Label
  • Publishing the page
  • How the page behaves on the website for signed-in customers

It does not cover:

  • Creating the VL Delete Account page (set only the permalink that opens it)
  • Full TV provider (TVE) onboarding
  • Parental controls, VPPA consent, or other account fields that appear from site-level settings rather than this module’s form

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Access to Template Builder with permission to create, edit, and publish pages
  • A published Authentication page so unsigned customers can sign in
  • A published Delete Account page if you want Delete Account to open a dedicated flow
  • Brand colors ready for the account page background

Example used in this article
The steps use a User Page named Account Info at path /account-info, and a Delete Account path of /delete-account. Replace these examples with values that match your site.

Notes

  • Unsigned customers are sent to the Authentication page.
  • Change Provider appears only when a TV provider is connected to the account.
  • Extra fields such as nickname, date of birth, zip code, email consent, or parental controls appear only when those capabilities are enabled for the site.

Step 1: Create a User Page

You can start a new page in either of these ways:

  1. Open Template Builder.
  2. Start Create New Page from one of these locations:
    • On the Template Builder home screen, select + New Page.
    • On the home Page Overview, select View All Pages, then select New Page.
  3. Enter a Page Name, such as Account Info.
  4. Under Page Type, select User Page.
  5. Enter a Page Path, such as /account-info.
  6. If localization is enabled, choose the Target Language.
  7. Select Create Page.

The page type cannot be changed after the page is created.

Create New Page with User Page selected as the Page Type. Start from + New Page on the Template Builder home screen, or from New Page on View All Pages.

Also available on: Modular Page, Marketing Page, and System Screen. For the standard account experience, use a User Page.

Step 2: Add the VL Account Info module

  1. Open the new page in the Template Builder editor.
  2. Select Add Modules.
  3. Open the User group, or search for VL Account Info.
  4. Select VL Account Info to add it to the page.
  5. Select the module on the page to open its settings.

Add Modules → User. Search for and insert VL Account Info.

Step 3: Configure Layout

Open Layout and configure:

Setting Description Default
Delete Account Permalink Page path opened when the customer continues with Delete Account. Use the path of your published Delete Account page. Empty
Text Text color for the module. Confirm the published result on your website. #C4CED4
Background Background color of the account info area on the website. #104979

Set Delete Account Permalink to a published page path, for example /delete-account. If this field is empty, Delete Account has no destination to open.

Step 4: Configure Content labels

Open Content and review these localizable labels:

Setting Description Default
Title Heading at the top of the Account Info page. Account Info
Delete Account Label Label on the Delete Account control. Delete Account
Change Provider Label Label used when a connected TV provider can be changed. Change Provider

If your site supports multiple languages, review these values in every published language.

Step 5: Review delivery settings

The inspector can also show these common settings:

Setting Description Default
Platforms Limits where this instance of the module is delivered. No explicit restriction
Enable Personalization Appears only when personalization is enabled for the site. Off

VL Account Info is available for web and apps. Leave Enable Personalization off unless your site’s personalization setup requires this module to participate.

Step 6: Publish the page

  1. Review the page layout and module settings.
  2. Select Publish in the page toolbar.
  3. In the confirmation dialog, select Publish Page.
  4. Wait for the publish action to complete.

Until the page is published, the website will not show your latest Account Info configuration.

Step 7: How it looks on the website

Open your Account Info URL while signed in, for example:

https://www.example.com/account-info

If you are not signed in, the website sends you to the Authentication page.

Typical website layout

Signed-in customers usually see:

  1. Title — from Title (for example Account Info), with a back control
  2. Personal details — name, email, and mobile number, with edit controls where the site allows them
  3. Connected account — only when a TV provider is linked, with Change Provider
  4. Delete Account — using Delete Account Label

Depending on your site setup, customers may also see nickname, date of birth, zip code, marketing-email consent, VPPA consent, or parental controls. Those extras come from site configuration, not from this module’s Layout and Content fields.

Delete Account

Selecting Delete Account can show a confirmation and then open the path you set in Delete Account Permalink. If the customer still has an active subscription, they may be asked to cancel that subscription first. The exact prompts depend on how the account was purchased.

Change Provider

Change Provider appears only when a TV provider is connected. After the customer confirms, they continue through your site’s TV provider flow.

Link Account Info from the site

Point the account or profile link in your header, menu, or user area to the same page path you set in Template Builder (for example /account-info).

Verification checklist

  • Page exists as a User Page
  • Page path is /account-info (or the path your site uses)
  • VL Account Info is on the layout
  • Delete Account Permalink points to a published Delete Account page
  • Background matches the site design
  • Title, Delete Account Label, and Change Provider Label are reviewed for launch language(s)
  • Page is published
  • Signed-out visit redirects to Authentication
  • Signed-in visit shows title, personal details, and Delete Account
  • Change Provider appears only when a TV provider is connected
  • Delete Account opens the intended page

Troubleshooting

Problem What to check
VL Account Info is not in the module list Confirm the page type is User Page (or Modular Page, Marketing Page, or System Screen). Clear platform filters if needed.
Unsigned customers stay on a blank page Confirm they are redirected to your published Authentication page, then sign in and return.
Delete Account does nothing or opens the wrong page Set Delete Account Permalink to the published Delete Account path, then republish.
Change Provider is missing Expected when no TV provider is connected to the account.
Labels do not change on the site Save the module settings, publish the page, and allow cache to clear. For localization, edit labels in the correct language.
Background color does not change Reopen Layout → Background, commit the change, and publish the page again.
Extra fields appear (nickname, DOB, zip code, consent) Those come from site-level settings, not from this module’s form.
Changes do not appear immediately Confirm the page is published, then retry in a private window after allowing time for cache updates.

Best Practices

  • Use one User Page at a stable path (for example /account-info).
  • Publish a Delete Account page before you set Delete Account Permalink.
  • Keep Title and Delete Account Label short and customer-facing.
  • Match Background to the rest of the account area.
  • Localize labels when the site has more than one live language.
  • Test signed-out and signed-in visits before launch.
  • Point header or account-menu links to the same Account Info path.
