Overview

The Download Video feature provides registered and subscribed users the ability to download content from the application to their local devices, enabling offline viewing. This enhances user satisfaction through flexible, on-the-go access, as long as device and subscription requirements are met. This article outlines the setup for CMS admins and details the front-end experience for end viewers

CMS Admin Configuration

Supported Platforms

  • iOS Mobile & Tablet App

  • Android Mobile & Tablet App

  • Desktop Web and Mobile Web Browser

Enabling Downloads

  • Navigate to App CMS > Settings > Features >  Enable video downloads for offline viewing

  • To allow users to download videos:

    • Enable the Download Icon. This adds the download function below each content thumbnail for all platforms: Web, iOS, Android mobile, and tablet.

  • Note: If both share and download are enabled, a three-dot “Options” icon appears on the thumbnail; users must click for a dropdown to choose Share or Download.

    • If only Download is enabled, the download icon will display directly on each thumbnail.

End-User Experience

Eligibility & Visibility

  • Only registered and subscribed users will see the Download icon/button on eligible content.

  • The Download tab under account and "My Downloads" screen will only be accessible to subscribed users.

Download Workflow

  • Locate Download Icon/Button

    • Visible directly under the content thumbnail (or within the options menu if both Share and Download are enabled).

  • Initiate Download

    • Tap or click the Download icon.

    • The user is redirected to the Downloads screen, where the selected content appears with a progress indicator.

  • Download States

    • In Progress: Download icon changes to indicate progress.

    • Pause/Cancel: While downloading, clicking the progress icon gives a pop-up to pause or cancel.

    • Pause switches icon to Resume state.

    • Cancel reverts the icon to the Download state.

    • Completed: Once finished, icon updates to indicate completion.

  • Accessing My Downloads

    • Through navigation: Account >> Downloads >> My Downloads.

    • Downloaded videos are listed with a search bar for filtering.

  • If no downloads exist: “You have not downloaded any videos yet.” message is displayed.

Download Management

In the Options Menu (Top Navigation), you will below mentioned options :

  • Manage Download Videos: Bulk delete individual or all downloaded videos.

  • Download Settings: Select the video quality for downloads (high, medium, low).

Playback & Expiry Logic

  • Downloaded content is viewable offline within the application for up to 30 days.

  • If the user is offline for 30 days with no app activity, the downloads expire and become unplayable.
