Overview
The Multiview feature allows end-users to watch multiple live video streams simultaneously during live events. Administrators configure Multiview presets in the ViewLift CMS, which appear as curated content cards in the Featured/LIVE trays on the application. This article outlines the setup and best practices for CMS admins and details the front-end experience for end viewers.
CMS Configuration

Feed selection is restricted to games/events that are in the LIVE state and are available in the system.
Supported Platforms

Android Mobile & Tablet App
Desktop Web and Mobile Web Browser
Creating and Managing Multiview Presets
Access Multiview Configuration
In the Content tab, click on “Collections”
You can either Add a new collection or configure the settings icon of any existing collection.
In the settings menu, locate the Multiview section. Start a new Multiview preset or edit an existing one.
Add details
The following details are required to publish a multi-view
Title: Enter a Multiview title, up to 60 uppercase characters, that will appear as the preset title in the Featured/LIVE tray.
Thumbnail: Upload a 16X9 thumbnail image for the Multiview card
Description: Description of the event
Select LIVE Event and Feeds
Choose from all currently LIVE or upcoming (scheduled) events.
From the dropdown, select the available live video feeds (main broadcast or alternate camera angles).
You may include multiple feeds from different live events, as well as various camera angles from a single game .
Set the Multiview Layout
For multiview, a maximum of 4 feeds can be configured. If you want to configure 2 streams, select 2 streams from the dropdown. For 3 streams, select 3, and for 4 streams, select up to a maximum of 4.
The order in which feeds are added will be retained and shown to the viewer.
Configure Error Messages and Visual Slates
For each feed, admins can set custom error messages or visual slates:
If a user is not entitled to a feed, the assigned “locked” message appears instead of the video.
If a feed is unavailable (e.g., technical error or feed stopped), the assigned slate and error message are displayed.
To update error messages, navigate to App CMS > Template Builder > Global Settings > Generic Messages > Subscription Messages, and modify the relevant error message as needed.
Save and Publish
Save your configuration. The Multiview preset will become available under the Featured/LIVE trays for end-users once published.
Note: There is no limit on the number of Multiview presets you can create.
Modifying Presets During LIVE Events
Presets can be modified while the event is LIVE.
If a preset is changed after it is already visible to end-users:
The ongoing stream for any user that is affected by changing the Multiview preset will play as is.
For new users or for user who start again (or refresh) the stream the newly configured preset will play
End-User Experience
Accessing Multiview
Users log in on the application, complete subscription (if required), and navigate to the homepage or gamepage.
Multiview cards for LIVE events are displayed either
.On Homepage
In Carousels - In the VL LIVE Preview Tray or VL Tray
In the video player under “Multiview” button
On Gamepage
In Additional Trays
In the video player under Multiview CTA
Multiview Player Interactions
In Multiview mode, feeds appear on a single screen as per the preset configuration.
The first feed is always in focus and has active audio.
Users can tap any other feed to shift focus and activate its audio.
Previous focus feed will be muted when another is selected.
Single tap on a video toggles mute/unmute for that feed.
Use the ‘Back’ arrow to return to Multiview mode.
Switch between different Multiview presets via player controls (if more than one is available).
Any locked or unavailable feeds display the configured error message or slate instead of video.
If a Multiview preset being viewed is updated or removed, an error message appears, and users must re-select a valid option.
Best Practices
Carefully curate feeds and order them according to expected user interest—the first feed draws most attention.
Always upload a distinct, recognizable thumbnail(16X9) for each Multiview card.
Limit title text to 60 uppercase characters for optimal display.
Review and update error messages and slates so they provide clear, actionable guidance to users (e.g., entitlement or technical explanations).
Whenever updating a preset during a live event, consider giving users advance notifications if possible, to reduce confusion.
