Introduction

VL Calendar Module is a Template Builder module for a team and game calendar on connected TV and OTT devices.

This module is not available on the website, iOS, or Android. Configure it in Template Builder, then verify the result on a supported TV or OTT app (for example Roku, Fire TV, Smart TV, or Apple TV).

This article explains how to create a Modular Page, add and configure VL Calendar Module, publish it, and check the experience on a supported app.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to help you:

• Create a Modular Page for a team and game calendar
• Add and configure VL Calendar Module
• Set the background, team filter, and focus colors used on TV
• Set the calendar Title
• Publish the page and verify it on a supported TV or OTT app

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

• Access to Template Builder with permission to create, edit, and publish pages
• Access to a supported TV or OTT app build for verification
• Brand colors ready for the calendar background and focus rings
• Published teams and games if the calendar should show live schedule data

Example used in this article
The steps use a Modular Page named Team Calendar at path /team-calendar. Replace these examples with values that match your site. Your apps may expect a different path.

Step 1: Create a Modular Page

You can start a new page in either of these ways:

1. Open Template Builder.
2. Start Create New Page from one of these locations:
   • On the Template Builder home screen, select + New Page.
   • On the home Page Overview, select View All Pages, then select New Page.
3. Enter a Page Name, such as Team Calendar.
4. Under Page Type, select Modular Page.
5. Enter a Page Path, such as /team-calendar.
6. If localization is enabled, choose the Target Language.
7. Select Create Page.

The page type cannot be changed after the page is created.

Create New Page with Modular Page selected as the Page Type. Start from + New Page on the Template Builder home screen, or from New Page on View All Pages.

Also available on: Marketing Page. For the standard calendar experience, use a Modular Page.

Step 2: Add VL Calendar Module

1. Open the new page in the Template Builder editor.
2. Select Add Modules.
3. Open the Calendar Module group, or search for VL Calendar Module.
4. Select VL Calendar Module to add it to the page.
5. Select the module on the page to open its settings.

If the module does not appear in the list, clear the platform filter or select a TV / OTT platform. VL Calendar Module is hidden when the editor is filtered to Web, iOS, or Android only.

Add Modules → Calendar Module. Search for and insert VL Calendar Module.

Step 3: Configure Layout

Open Layout and configure:

Match Team Focus Color and Calendar Focus Color to your TV brand so the remote highlight is easy to see on a 10-foot screen.

Step 4: Configure Content

Open Content and review:

Enter a short title, such as Team Calendar or Schedule. If your site supports multiple languages, review this value in every published language.

Step 5: Review delivery settings

The inspector can also show these common settings:

VL Calendar Module is not enabled for the website, iOS, or Android. Leave Enable Personalization off unless your site’s personalization setup requires this module to participate.

Step 6: Publish the page

1. Review the page layout and module settings.
2. Select Publish in the page toolbar.
3. In the confirmation dialog, select Publish Page.
4. Wait for the publish action to complete.

Until the page is published, TV and OTT apps will not show your latest calendar configuration.

Step 7: How it looks on a supported app

Open the published page on a supported TV or OTT app.

Customers typically see:

1. Title — from Title
2. Calendar — games or schedule dates for the selected period
3. Team filter — when Show Teams Filter is on
4. Focus highlight — Team Focus Color or Calendar Focus Color, with Focus Border Width, as the customer moves the remote

The exact calendar grid, date navigation, and which games appear depend on the app and your published team and game content. Confirm the result on your target devices rather than on the website.

This module does not render on the website. A web URL is not the verification path.

• VL Calendar Module is on the page
• Show Teams Filter matches the intended experience
• Background, Focus Border Width, Team Focus Color, and Calendar Focus Color match the TV design

Troubleshooting

Best Practices

• Use a Modular Page at a stable path that your TV apps already expect.
• Keep Title short enough to read on a 10-foot screen.
• Use a Background that contrasts with the calendar text and focus ring.
• Turn Show Teams Filter on when the site has more than one team.
• Keep Focus Border Width between 1 and 12; start at 4 and adjust on a real TV.
• Localize Title when the site has more than one live language.
• Do not rely on website preview for this module.
• Test at least one supported TV or OTT app before launch.
• Publish after every meaningful change.

Q. What page type should I use for VL Calendar Module?

Q. How do I create the page?

When on, customers can filter the calendar by team on supported devices. The default is off.

Q. Which labels can I edit in this module?
Title is the Content field you can edit. Focus and background are Layout settings.

Q. Is this the same as adding an event to a personal calendar from a game page?
No. This module is the TV team/game calendar. Game detail “add to calendar” controls are a different setting.

Q. Will changes appear immediately in the app?
Often within several minutes after publish. Relaunch the app if you need to verify sooner.
