Overview
Create a new monetization model that defines an access strategy for content. Models are assigned to plans and determine how customers interact with content.
:::tip At a Glance
Who is this for?
Monetization team members setting up monetization infrastructure before creating plans.
When do I use this?
When you need to add a new monetization strategy — e.g. introducing TVOD alongside an existing SVOD model, or creating a regional free-access model.
What will happen?
A new model is created and becomes available for assignment to plans. If marked as default, it will be pre-selected when creating new plans of that type.
:::
Prerequisites
- You must be signed in with a role that has monetization permissions.
Steps
Step 1: Open the model creation dialog
Navigate to Monetization → Models and click Create.
Step 2: Fill in the model details
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | A display name for the model (e.g. "US Subscription", "AVOD Free") |
| Type | Yes | The monetization category — see model types |
| Default | Yes | Yes or No — sets this as the default model for its type |
| Countries | No | Assign specific countries to this model for regional targeting |
Step 3: Save
Save the model. It is immediately available for use when creating plans.
Expected Behavior
- The model appears in the models grid after saving.
- If set as default, it replaces any previous default model of the same type.
- Country assignments are optional — a model without countries applies globally.
If Something Goes Wrong
- Model not appearing in plan creation? → Ensure the model type matches the plan type you are trying to create.
- Default flag not sticking? → Only one model per type can be default. Setting a new default automatically clears the previous one.
