VL Rich Text Module

Introduction

VL Rich Text is a Modular Page module in Template Builder. Use it to insert text on a page — a heading, a short introduction, a note, or a few formatted paragraphs between trays.

That is the whole purpose of this module: put copy on the page where a tray would not fit. It is not a search, checkout, or location screen. Customers simply read the text you publish.

This article explains how to add VL Rich Text, enter the text, publish it, and confirm it on the website.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to help you:

• Add VL Rich Text to a Modular Page
• Insert a heading and body text
• Understand what customers read on the website
• Publish the page so the text goes live

Scope

This article covers:

• Adding VL Rich Text in Template Builder
• The three fields: Title, Description, and Text
• How the inserted text appears on the website

It does not cover:

• VL Raw HTML (custom HTML, including System Screens)
• Trays, masthead, or other Modular Page blocks
• Writing long-form articles in a separate CMS

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

• Access to Template Builder for your site
• The wording you want to show (plain text is enough)
• A Modular Page to place the block on

Example used in this article
We add a short welcome on an About Modular Page. Replace the sample wording with your own. For a sports site you might insert: “Welcome to City United — fixtures, tickets, and match-day updates.”

Step 1: Open Template Builder

1. Log into ViewLift Tools.
2. Open AppCMS → Edit Template Builder (or open Template Builder for your site from your usual entry point).
3. Confirm you are on the correct site and language (if localization is enabled, use the language selector on the Template Builder home screen before editing page copy).

Step 2: Open the Modular Page

VL Rich Text is available on a Modular Page. It is not a System Screen module.

1. In Template Builder, go to Pages.
2. Open the Modular Page where the text should appear, or create a Modular Page if you need a new one.
3. Confirm the page type is a Modular Page (not System Screen).

Step 3: Add VL Rich Text to the layout

1. Open the page.
2. Select Edit Layout.
3. Select Add a New Module.
4. Search for or select VL Rich Text.
5. Insert the module where you want the text to sit (for example above a tray, or between two trays).

If VL Rich Text is not in the list, confirm the page is a Modular Page.

Step 4: Insert the text

Open the VL Rich Text module settings.

1. Enter a Title if you want a heading (for example About City United).
2. Replace Text with the copy you want on the page.
3. Leave Description empty unless you use it as an internal note.

Text can be plain sentences. You may also use simple formatting (headings, paragraphs, lists, or links) if you need it. For a System Screen or custom HTML page, use VL Raw HTML instead.

Step 5: Save and publish

1. Save the module settings.
2. Publish the page.

Until the page is published, the live site will not show your latest text.

Changes can take several minutes to appear because of caching. To verify sooner, use a private window, another browser, or clear cookies and cache.

Step 6: How it looks on the website

After publish, open the Modular Page.

Customers see:

• Title, if you entered one
• The Text you inserted

If Title is empty, only the body text appears. If Text is empty, the block has nothing to read.

• The page is a Modular Page
• VL Rich Text is on the layout
• Text contains the copy you want customers to read
• Title is set only if you want a heading
• Page is published
• The live page shows the inserted text

Best Practices

• Use this module to insert text — a welcome, a short note, or a few paragraphs.
• Keep the copy short so it reads well between trays.
• Leave Title empty when Text already starts with the heading you want.
• Localize Title and Text when the site has more than one live language.
• Publish after you change the wording.
