Troubleshoot Video Streaming Issues
If your users are having issues with live stream/VOD, try the troubleshooting tips below.
Internet Connection
Slow or unstable internet connections are a common cause of streaming issues. Ensure you have a stable and sufficiently fast internet connection for streaming. Run an internet speed test to check your download speed. A minimum speed of 5 Mbps is typically recommended for standard HD streaming.
Check Other Streaming Services
If you're only having problems with one particular streaming service, it's possible that the problem is with the service itself. Try streaming content from a different service to see if the problem persists.
Restart Your Streaming Device
Sometimes, streaming problems can be resolved by simply restarting your streaming device (e.g., smart TV, streaming stick, gaming console). Power it off and back on to clear any temporary glitches.
Clear Cache and Cookies
If you're streaming content through a web browser, clearing your browser's cache and cookies can help. Old data may interfere with streaming. You can usually find this option in your browser's settings.
Check for Software and App Updates
Ensure that your streaming app or platform is up to date. Outdated software can lead to compatibility issues and streaming problems. Additionally, make sure your device's firmware or operating system is current.
Adjust Video Quality Settings
ViewLift does automatically adjust playback quality to match the internet speed, users can also change it manually. This may be helpful if you are in an area where you know your connectivity is inconsistent or is not fast enough to handle higher resolutions.
Check for Network Congestion
Streaming problems can occur during peak usage hours when many people are using the internet in your area. Consider contacting your internet service provider.
