Understanding Data Differences: Monetization vs. Acquisition Reports

The Monetization - Subscription payments report tracks the total SVOD transactions made within a specific period, regardless of who made them. So, if a single user makes several subscription payments in the same timeframe, it will be counted as multiple transactions.

The Acquisition report > All Subscribed report focuses on users who have subscribed to your SVOD plans. It displays the unique number of users who have an active subscription within the selected date range, regardless of the number of transactions they made. A single user can make multiple transactions.

Example:

Acquisition report: From Jan 1st to Jan 30th, 2024, you see 1953 users subscribed through the "ROBI" payment handler. This means 1953 unique users subscribed in that period, even if some made multiple transactions.

Monetization report: If you look at the same period in the Monetization report, you might see a higher number due to users making multiple transactions.

Q. Why can't user IDs be included in the Monetization report? 

Tools Dashboard360 reports will never give user data as reports are combined from various tables. As an alternative, you can access the data through Export API (Bulk API) and manipulate the data to identify individual users associated with the transactions. Here's an example API report showing a list of the top 10 users for a given date range and subscription plan.

Overall

In the Overall tab, we are looking into the gross transaction amount for all the successful SVOD subscriptions paid in U.S dollars in April 2022. Select a different currency to see the payment acquisition for that currency. 

 Likewise, select the Number of Transactions from the Metrics drop-down to plot the graph for the number of transactions for the selected currency.

This report shows an overview of the gross payment transaction amount and the refunds processed for the selected currency for the set report range.

Get the daily, weekly, or monthly reports for your SVOD plans for an at-a-glance view of the gross payment amount and the number of transactions over some time. 

In this example, you might want to understand why the Refer & Earn campaign numbers are low. If you specifically want subscribers' email addresses, you can export the data from your engagement channels such as Mailchimp/CleverTap/Mandrill, or use our custom BULK API services.
