Add Search bar to your website, mobile & OTT apps
Effortlessly improve navigation by adding a search bar to your website, mobile & OTT apps.
How does the new "Top Search Results" work
The new search flow in ViewLift is powered from within the CMS. The search is ingested from titles, internal tags and categories, as well as meta descriptions from content pages to surface results on the Search page.
Create a Search page
Before you create the Search page, make sure:
- to ingest images with a 3x4 aspect ratio on the video detail page. Otherwise, you might see some placeholder tiles.
- to prevent new or popular videos from being buried under older content, it's essential to carefully craft video descriptions that include relevant metadata and tags. This helps to ensure that your videos show up in search results for trending keywords and remain visible to your audience.
1. Go to Template Builder > System Screens > create Search Screen (page).
Fill up the fields as this screenshot illustrates:
2. Add the Search module to the page. If you want to move back to the old search UI, then enable the Switch to Old UI flag.
3. When you're happy, click Publish.
The search page has a clean, minimalist design with just enough gutter space to separate the thumbnails for better visual appeal. Plus, you can easily navigate through different content types with the tabs provided (see example below).
Limitations
- Video titles are not displayed below thumbnails in search results. Workaround: Incorporate video title into the image.
- Individual episodes may appear in search results since the search function does not allow for filtering them out.
