Article summary

When you open a content item, you will see the PUBLISH/UPDATE, UNPUBLISH, DUPLICATE, and PREVIEW tabs located at the top of your screen. The content metadata is auto-saved by default and the greyed-out button indicates that data is synced with the cloud.

Publish an asset

The Publish button will appear if an asset is in draft status and has never been published. Once the object is published live, the button transitions to Update.

Unpublish/delete an asset

To unpublish an asset, first, click UNPUBLISH, and then the ARCHIVE option will become available. Currently, there's no control in the UI to delete an asset entirely from the CMS, so assets remain only archived. If you want to delete old/duplicate objects, send us the list of objects to delete and we will run a batch script.
Note: To delete episodic content (VOD objects linked to a series), you should first unlink the episodes from the series.

Duplicate an asset

Sometimes you may want to link a VOD with a series while at the same time making the video available as a standalone publication. In such cases, use the Duplicate option. The encoded files from the original asset are copied over to the duplicate asset.

Preview an asset

To preview, content should be in the published state.

Bulk Operation

Batch editing across pages for actions like publishing, updating, tagging, categorizing, or archiving isn't available yet. Currently, you can only update multiple items at once for the 20 titles displayed on a page, see image below. The content selection won't persist if you navigate to other pages.

FAQs

Q. Published videos not showing up on the website and apps.

The cache policies in the Page API govern how long a page is stored in temporary memory. The minimum cache time for videos is 20 minutes and it might sometimes take up to a maximum of 40 minutes to refresh the Template Builder page and the newly published content to appear on trays.

Note: Very rarely, other data issues can delay your video's appearance beyond the typical cache timeframe. Contact ViewLift Support if your content changes haven't shown up after 40 minutes.

Q. Videos are uploaded and published but won't appear in the Search box in trays.

The search indexer in the backend does not index numbers, so if a video title contains a number, it will not be possible to find the video by searching for that number. For example, if the video title is 'June 3 2023 Royal Enfield Race 1 1st Place Interview', simply search without including the number in the title, like 'June Royal Enfield Race 1st Place Interview'.
