Article summary

If your SVOD subscription customers use PayPal as a funding source and they wish to cancel their plan, more steps need to be taken than just the normal process.

PayPal has it's own subscriptions/recurring payments that live inside each end user's PayPal individual account. Once they have canceled their plan, or your support team has canceled on their behalf, that user will still need to log into their PayPal account and follow the additional steps as follows:

What is an automatic payment?
An automatic payment authorizes a merchant to charge you whenever you make a purchase on their website without signing in to your PayPal account. This is something that is set up on the first checkout with the merchant. The terms of the automatic payment will be available in your PayPal account.

Finding your automatic payments on the app:

Tap Settings.
Tap Automatic Payments.
Tap the merchant.
On this page, you can Remove PayPal as your payment method and select a backup funding source.

Finding your automatic payments on the website:
Go to Account Settings.
Click Money, Banks and Cards.
Click Set Automatic Payments.
Select the merchant.
On this page, you can Cancel the automatic payment and Change the backup funding source.

Contact information for your merchant can be found in the automatic payment.

If you’re a merchant that needs to cancel a subscription for your customer:
Click Pay & Get Paid.
Click Subscriptions.
Find your customer’s subscription to update.
