Your offer needs the following intial datapoints added:
Name

 Description

 Status

The NAME should be an internal differentiator.
The Offer Description should accurately detail the intent, which in this case is a Free Trial. By definition in our system, this means that there is a payment capture at the time of sign-up, but that the customer is not charged until after the end of the trial period. If the customer cancels before the end of that period, they will not be charged.

Important Note:

If a user cancels their subscription during the free trial, their subscription is immediately canceled. However, if the user is charged after the free trial and then cancels their subscription, they are placed in a deferred cancellation state.

When you are ready to push your offer live, you should change the Status to Unexpired. Changing this status to Expired takes the offer out of usage/rotation.

Under the Price Set-Up section the Offer Strategy for Free Trial should be set to Deferred as a drop-down menu choice:

For the Period Type, you need to determine the length of the free trial and choose the appropriate drop-down:

The Multiplier value relates to the Period Type. For example, if you wish do set up a Free Trial for seven days, the Period Type would be set to Days, and the Multiplier would be set to 7.

The Offer Limit controls the number of customers you are allowing to take advantage of this Free Trial. If you wish for it to be Unlimited (available to all users), you would choose Unlimited in the drop-down menu:

If you wish for the Free Trial to be Limited to a set number of users, you would choose Limited and set a Limit number.

Once you have set all the data points and values of your offer, click the blue SAVE button in the upper right to save your new offer to the system.

Now this offer can be associated with a subscription. To do this, you edit the existing subscription and click on MANAGE ACCEPTABLE OFFERS to link your Free Trial with the subscription:

If you wish for your Free Trial to be Pre-Applied, that is the box you should check when linking the offer the subscription. By Pre-Applied, that means that every new customer signing up will get the free trial offer applied to their sign-up.

Once you have made the changes to that subscription plan, click OK to pop out of the offer management screen, and make sure to click SAVE on the subscription to lock in the changes.
