Article summary

  1. Within Template Builder > Pages, click on Modular Pages and select one of the pages available. In this case, we access the Home Page.

  1. Once on the Home Page, hover over the Carousel module to be edited and click on the Settings Icon (cogwheel) that appears on the top right. This will open up a side menu.

  1. Here you'll find options related specifically to this kind of module. There are three main sections to focus on: Content Settings, Layout Settings and Scheduling Settings

Content Settings

Screen elementDescription
Content Selection
You have the option to
  • Programmatically Generate content, which automatically displays content based on its parameters selected in settings options in this module.
  • Manually Curate allows users to select the items to be displayed in the module. You can choose content types and search for specific items to add them to the carousel.
Content TypeMultiple selections for as many content types that have been uploaded to the platform. For example, content types could be audio, video, series, playlists, articles, or photo galleries.
Fetch StrategyRetrieve and display content by Title (A-Z) or by Recently Added (Date).
CategoriesMultiple selections for as many category types that have been entered in the platform. For example, category types include animation, comedy, documentary, sports, thriller and other category types.
TagsMultiple selections for as many tag types have been entered in the platform. Tags are added at the content level.
Live Videos OnlyRestricts content on the module to only show live videos
VOD OnlyRestricts content on the module to only show VOD videos.
LimitDefine the maximum number of videos that appear within a single carousel at a time. Usually the settings configuration will return a list of content assets that could exceed this amount. There is no maximum setting, but our best practice suggestion is 10-12 items per tray.

32:9 Carousel

The prerequisite for using the 32:9 carousel is that you must cut and upload an image to each piece of video content you wish to showcase within that carousel. That image must be added to the 32:9 OTT DL (3840 x 1080) module within the Manage Images module of the content object, like VOD.

after adding the image:

On a modular page, click on Add Modules and then search for "Carousel (32:9)," select it, and then drag-and-drop it onto your modular page layout area.

All of the content curation functionalities are the same as other carousels and trays. One difference that only relates to the 32:9 carousel is under the Layout Settings of the carousel. You can access these by hovering over the gear of the carousel module and clicking it to edit:

If you engage the toggle for "Use 16x9 on mobile," this will force the 32:9 carousel to use the 16x9 images in mobile environments (which we recommend).

Carousel Image Size: Select the 16:9 image size option to show carousel images in horizontal mode on Android/iOS. Use the Carousel (32:9) if you want to use the 32:9 image.

More Carousel Layout Settings

Screen elementDescription
Time Delay (In Seconds) Time it takes to scroll from item to item in the module. This feature is specific to carousels.
Continuous LoopMakes the carousel scroll back to the first item on the list after reaching the end of the list, creating a scrolling loop. Looping creates an automatic slideshow through a series of content, built with transformations and continuum patterns.
Thumbnail Type Options to select a wide (Landscape) or poster (Portrait) thumbnail. Please note that for a carousel, there are specific Landscape image types associated with the module. These images are added and managed at the asset level.
Add module to a Container Allows the module to be inserted in a Container module (with other modules as well), such as a use case where you might wish to have a carousel sitting side by side with a content list.
Full Window Width (Event Carousel Only) Expands the carousel to display at full page width. Only available for the Event Carousel type module.
Display Info On Hover (OTT) Show the title on the Carousel on OTT devices (Apple TV, Roku, Samsung, LG, etc.)
Hide Info Section Disable the toggle if you would like to show the title on the Carousel. An example of a title in a 16:9 Carousel is shown below.
Scheduling Settings

Schedule Start Date - set a date for when the module will be displayed and assets will start populating according to the selected settings.

Show Badge ImageToggle the option to show or hide badge images on the carousel. Ensure that badge images are uploaded with the correct size to appropriately fit and display on the carousel items.
Show preview on Hover
When hovering over content with a trailer, the trailer will play automatically.
Hide duration on tray item
Toggle the option to hide the duration on carousel tray items.

New Series Carousel - Used to display carousel for Concepts (custom Fitness template functionality)
Schedule Carousel - This is a combination of two sections. One is the schedule of upcoming events on top of the Event carousel (for custom Fitness template) and the other is the Event carousel which shows the upcoming events with time.
