Article summary

ViewLift is able to present audio-only content (such as music, news, podcasts) on our iOS and Android mobile platforms. The audio content needs to be in MPEG-3 format before adding to our CMS.

To get started, log into your ViewLift TOOLS account. From the top horizontal menu choose CONTENT. Under the Content section, click on AUDIO from the secondary menu:

Once this dialog box surfaces, drag or browse your MP3 to add it to the CDN:

There is no processing/compression activity during this step. Once the upload is complete, you will see your new audio content piece at the top of the picklist. Hover over the gear and left-click to open up the audio content template:

Each field with a red asterisk (*) denotes a required field. These are minimum requirements of completion before you can publish your audio content. They include title, permaliink, author, description and images.

The TITLE field should be editorialized using upper and lower case style rules. Best practices suggest that you remove the numeric identifier auto-generated by the creation of the audio content from this field.

The PERMALINK does not require any editorialization.

The AUTHOR field is internal-only, and will not show up on iOS and Android in a customer-facing way.

The IMAGES module gets accessed by clicking on the MANAGE IMAGES key:

Once the image module is open you can now upload or search for images to add to the audio content in the image repository:

The only image aspect ratio that you should add to this section is the 1:1 square. The recommended size is 1080 x 1080 pixels in size. Other image aspect ratios do not apply for audio content. Please follow the same image guidelines that hold true for other content types on the platform:

CATEGORIES:

You can choose from existing, or add new categories to a piece of audio content. There is no limit to how many categories you add. Think of these as higher-level, genre-centric verticals to organize and present your content. You can use categories to drive what content surfaces in an audio tray. To choose from an existing category, click inside the category box and left-click on the category you wish to add, once you have used your up/down arrows to highlight it in blue.

You can remove a category by clicking the x in the lower-left corner of that category.

TAGS:

You can choose from existing, or add new tags to a piece of audio content. There is no limit to how many tags you add. Think of these as subjective, drilled-down detail elements to help users find your audio content with site search and organize your content. You can also use tags to drive what content surfaces in an audio tray. To choose from an existing tag, click inside the tag box and left-click on the tag you wish to add; once you have used your up/down arrows tighlight it in blue.

To add a new tag, click inside the tag box, and start typing the name of your new tag. We suggest you use upper and lower case style rules for this. Once you finish typing the tag name, left-click on the text highlighted in blue. Now there is a new tag added to your audio content and added to the tag set of your platform.

You can remove a tag by clicking the x in the lower-left corner of that tag.

Once you've have editorialized your audio content piece, you can click the PUBLISH button in the upper-right at which time your audio content is now ready to be searchable and programmable on the platform.

Within appCMS/Template Builder you can add an Audio Tray to any modular page to program audio content. Only the audio tray can be used to program audio content pieces on the platform. You can drive the content that pulls into a programmatic audio tray by a single tag or category, or manually curate it in the same manner that you do with other content types.
